1 French Percale
A cambric very fine and closely woven, either bleached or printed. Woven from good quality yarns. Finished with more filling than other cambrics, without gloss. -
2 Percale
A super quality cambric, generally bleached, printed, and finished without gloss. The best qualities are made in Prance. Usually 34-in. to 36-in. wide, 120 ends and 120 picks per inch, 60's/50's warp, 50's/40's weft. Originally came from India. The percale of the U.S.A. is much lower in quality than the French styles, varying from 60 X 60 up to 80 X 80 ends and picks per inch, and yarns from about 30's warp, 34's weft. One quality is 36-in. finished, 120 yards, 80 ends and 76 picks per inch, 30's warp, 34's weft, 30-lb. Percales are generally printed in small designs. and the fabrics are a little heavier than ordinary prints.
